Did You Know? You Can Install Traffic Control Products without Drilling Through the Floor Surface
-
Most would agree that parking facilities can be dangerous places. These structures require adequate traffic control devices to ensure both driver and pedestrian safety.

Single-level, outdoor parking lots can be easily fitted with speed bumps or car stops. These outdoor facilities usually have few restrictions (if any) preventing the installation of these devices. The floor surfaces can be penetrated or altered accordingly in order to implement such solutions.

But what if you could not rely on traditional installation methods?

Some structures (i.e. multi-level / indoor parking decks), do not permit the use of certain traffic control devices due to the installation methods they require and structural limitations of the facility. For example, the floors may be coated to protect the surface or the internal structuring / wiring does not allow the surface to be penetrated by any means. Indoor Parking Lot

How can you equip indoor / multi-level parking decks with traffic control devices?

Rubber Car Stop
Several alternatives to traditional asphalt or concrete solutions do exist. Rubber or plastic car stops or speed bumps, for example, are highly effective and easy-to-install. Alternative installation methods for these products are available allowing the use of these devices in multi-level parking decks.

How-To-Install GNR's Easy Rider Speed Bump with PL Premium:
-
-
  1. Clean the installation surface (concrete) from dust, water, or grease. The concrete surface must be completely dry.
  1. Wash the bottom of the rubber speed bump with toluene until no slippery surface can be detected. You can sand down the surface of the rubber in order to remove any residue from the mold release or other contaminants.
Easy Rider Speed Bump
  1. Apply six (6) beads about 3/8" wide of the PL Premium adhesive on the cleaned bottom surface of the speed bump (two full 300 ml of PL Premium should be used per 6' speed bump).
  1. Position the speed bump on the designated, clean concrete surface.
  1. Step and walk on top of the speed bump to press it down.
  1. Leave the speed bump undisturbed for 12 - 24 hrs.*
Notes:
a) Follow the PL Premium recommendation for minimum of 5°C (41°F) temperature of the installation surface.
b) For installation of the speed bump end cap, use about 1/3 of the 300 ml tube with PL Premium and follow the same installation procedure as for the speed bump.

*It is necessary to leave the speed bump undisturbed for at least 12 hours. Closing off the area may be required.
